A Few Words
About Me
Experienced Educator
Spanish, English, French, German
In July 2020, I retired as Professor emerita, Modern Languages & Cultures (Spanish) from the Virginia Military Institute, ending my career as a full-time teacher. My classroom experience includes 11 years in the Tucson Unified School District (AZ), where I taught middle school and high school Spanish, ESL, and French. Prior to
TUSD, I owned an English language school in Sevilla, Spain.
My pedagogical background includes Project-Based Learning (PBL), study abroad, Undergraduate Research, and alternative assessment, especially ePortfolios. During my tenure at TUSD, I trained in cooperative learning with Spencer Kagan and Positive Classroom Management with Fred Jones. Although I am not an accredited trainer for either organization, their workshops made a profound impact on my professional development as a teacher and a scholar.
